Mobile Auto Repairs
All I do is mobile auto repairs. I have no actual automotive shop and this is a side job for me mostly to get exercise and be outside.Take a look at the menu to left and I have listed most items that would concern you. I work on all vehicle brands ranging from audi to volkswagen. When I give a labor estimate on something I generally am only looking ot make 25 to 45 an hour. Compared to an automotive repair shop or automotive dealer who is charging 85 to 155 an hour.
Car Diagnostic
Most vehicles can be diagnosed thru their OBD2 system and generally only take a few minutes if that is the case. All vehicles since 1996 have OBD2. Before 1996 there is different versions of OBD. Even if you don't have your check engine light on this on board diagnostic system will tell me alot of things about your automobile. There are many things this system can not tell me about though. Like if a tie rod is bad or a bushing is wore out or cracked. Sometimes a problem can not be pinpointed without actually taking part off and looking at it. Some things are easy to pinpoint like starter issues. This is pretty cheap ranging from 25 to 50 dollars ussually.
Car Maintenance
The cost of an oil change with filter is about 70 dollars. If it is just an oil change then cheaper of course. I recommend changing your oil every 3 to 5 thousand miles. Your filter every 9k miles.A tune up is generally spark plugs, spark plug wires, rotors, distributor caps, filters, fluids, belts and hoses. This varies greatly as newer autos don't even have distributors. They have coil packs which generally last a very long time. Some of these things most customers can do themselves. Like flushing your brake fluid. This can fluctuate greatly depending on what you need done.
Axle Replacements
This is one part I recommend getting from local or online parts store as oem is just so expensive generally.If you hear clicking when you turn then it is your axle.
Brakes
I do brakes and this can range from just getting pads replaced to rotors, calipers, pads, or brake lines. If your brake pedal is squishy to abs light is on I can fix that.
Steering & Suspension
Sorry I don't do steering items like rack and pinion replacement cause that really needs to be put on a lift. I do repair suspension items like upper and lower control arms. Anything that needs a press like rear shock tower bushings I don't do cause that needs a press and i don't own a portable press. I do replace shocks, struts and anything else that doesn't need a press. Call to find out more.
Exhaust Systems
I fix anything on a vehicle exhaust system and genreally will need to expect it first. Some vehicles that have been done at a place like midas generally has cut and welded on pipes. I recomend replacing the whole as OEM exhaust parts aren't that expensive if you can wait to order them.
A/C Diagnostic & Repair
I have rebuilt entire systems in past and can diagnose your system. IF your car needs a charge then do it right by vacuuming it all out and recharging it right. If your vehicle does need a charge then somethign is wrong with your system. Generally it is the pump that starts to leak first. Dye can be put thru this to confirm if that is the case. This is generally less than a hundred bucks.
Pre-Purchase Inspection
I can go with you to pre-inspect any vehicle. From OBD2 scan on auto to making sure engine is ok by doing a compression test i can do it. I only charge 30 dollars an hour for my time.
Valve Adjustment
The recomendation varies greatly on this. For older cars every 100k miles to some newer cars almost never. Look up your own car model or call and I will do that for you.
Engine Cooling
This is generally easy to diagnose and relatively cheap to fix. I highly recomend don't ever put off fixing your cooling system as this can easily ruin your engine if not fixed when your first suspect it is failing. Most of the time it is the upper hose leaking and that can be as cheap as 70 dollars to fix.
Battery & Starting
This is another item that is easy to diagnose and cheap to fix. Good batteries are generally 100 dollars and easy to replace. If it is your starter or the solenoid that is relatively easy to fix also.
Belts
Belts are another item that is generally cheap and easy to fix. This is also another item you should never put off fixing. I replace my vehicle belts every 3 years about and never more than 5. If you see cracks in your timing belt then it is past due to replace.
Misc Services
Rotating tires, changing oil, pre-sale inspection of vehicles. I do all of this. Auto detailing, Buffing, waxing, washing. Anything to do with a vehicle I do.
What Auto Repairs I Don't Do
I don't change auto transmissions, auto engines, rack & pinions, shock tower bushings, autobody or paint work. My rule of thumb is this. If it needs a press, or a lift I generally don't do it. I am a mobile car repair shop with no lift and some things need a lift. I do vehicle repair only 10 to 20 hours a week so big jobs I am not able to do unless it is special.
