Why am I cheaper compared to all auto repair shops?
I am cheaper than any auto shop cause we have no store front and do no national advertising. This is a one man auto repair shop so we are not required to pay into ss or workmens compensation. There is also no middleman or upper management taking a cut from my profits. Generally we can do auto repairs for half the price of any repair shop.
-
Why I do superior automotive work?
My business is my name and I love to fix stuff and get exercise. I only do this in my spare time and am not in a rush to get an auto repair done unlike other automotive service centers.
-
Where do you get your parts from?
There are three choices. OEM(local dealership),online(rockauto or amazon) or local auto part store like Autozone .OEM auto parts can be expensive but is preferred and sometimes required for certain areas of car. The second preferred method is online like ROCKAUTO but this takes a few days to get. The third is the least preferred. That is the local parts store like Autozone. They sell inferior parts for moregenerally speaking.
-
Do you charge anything for finding and acquiring the parts for my vehicle?
No I don't. I should though as sometimes it takes an hour or two to find an OEM part online for an older car that is much cheaper than the dealership. Local auto dealerships are outrageously priced and I try not to use them to get parts.
-
What is your experience as an auto mechanic?
I have been working on cars and other machinery since I could ride a scooter. I have rebuilt engines, restored motorcycles, mechanically restored cars and most things on a car from brakes to engine swaps. Most things I feel comfortable diagnosing when the scanner doesn't tell me what is wrong but keep in mind that some problems with a car are hard to pinpoint.
-
Can I supply the part for my vehicle?
Yes you may supply the auto part if you so wish. There is no warranty on the part. I still do warranty the labor. Look at next question for what the warranty covers.
-
What does your warranty cover?
I only give a labor warranty if part was installed incorrectly. Labor warranty are for things like the bolt was not put on right or something else involving taking off and replacing the car part itself. This never happens as I always want to be sure things are installed correctly. My advice is get an oem part if you can but alot of times you can't or it is just too expesnive. I understand. Parts from local part stores are generally junk imo. I never use them for my own automotive needs.
-
Do you have automotive tow services?
No I don't. If your car is broken down somewhere and you can't afford a tow then call me and let's see if I can come out to help you. There isn't a whole lot one can do while car sits on side of road though. Genreally you will need to get it towed somewhere before I can work on it.
-
Will you diagnose my car then give me a quote on parts and labor?
This is tricky ground as sometimes it is just an educated guess hooking up an obd2 scanner and listening to what you are telling me about the car. And of course checking it out myself. Genreally I will charge 30 dollars to diagnose your car. Keep in mind some things on your automobile can only be narrowed down to a few possibilities without taking the part off.
-
What else do you do besides repair vehicles?
Almost anything if I have the tools for it. I use to have a construction buisness and am capable of many trades in the construction business. As of now I am a software engineer and fix cars part time so I can get some exercise outdoors. I really do hate sitting at a desk.
-
How can I schedule you to service my vehicle?
Call or text. I honestly don't read my emails that often and it is much more effecient to call or text and we can chat about your issue with your vehicle.
-
What car brands do you fix?
I work on all brands of vehicles ranging from GM, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Ford, Dodge, Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Honda Acura, Huyndai, Kia, Mazda, Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infiniti, Jeep, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mitsubishi, Pontiac, SAAB, Subaru, Suzuki, Volvo, Volkswagen, Bentley, Porsche, Ferarri. I get to know your car and continue with that long term vehicle service.
-
How soon after I call can you come and repair my car?
Most of the time i can see your vehicle in same day you call. I can initially come for free and see what your automotive needs are.
-
Do you do pre-sale auto inspections?
Yes I will come with you to a dealership or another place to inspect a vehicle for you. These tests can range to simple walkarounds, driving of vehicle and some detailed inspection to compression tests. I generally would charge 40 to 85 dollars for this.
